To work as part of a multi agency Youth Offending Service to prevent offending by young people
To provide support to the Youth Offending Service in specific areas of the work.
To provide services as required by the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and other relevant legislation.
To ensure that all work and services are delivered in accordance with National Standards for Youth Justice and local policies and procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Through appropriate assessment of risk and risk management, to develop, contribute towards and participate in assessments and programmes of intervention to prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people referred to the Programme in accordance with Effective Practice Guidance and Agency policy.
Ensure that all young people on ISSP intervention programmes are monitored and subject to community surveillance in accordance with their programmes and that any apparent failure to comply is appropriately followed up and reported immediately to the Responsible Officer.
To maintain accurate, concise and up to date case records on the Youth Offending Information System (YOIS) including daily tracking sheets, statistics and other information meeting the requirements of the ISSP and the Youth Offending Service, in accordance with agency policy.
Work in partnership with other members of the Youth Offending Service, with the parents/carers and families of young people to ensure consistency with programme arrangements and to maximise the benefits of each programme.
Manage ISSP Bail Supervision cases as the 'Responsible Officer' and provide statements as required to enable breach proceedings to be undertaken in line with agency policy.
Deputise for the Senior ISSP Officer in their absence as required
Attend formal and informal meetings, seminars etc. and represent the ISSP/YOT at such events.
Contribute to the delivery of the full range of services for children, young people, their families, and victims, as outlined in the Youth Justice Plan Bedfordshire.
To prepared a range of reports for the Youth and Crown Courts that take into account all aspects of the young persons offending and propose appropriate interventions.
You must have previous ISSP or Youth Offending Team.
