IT Technical Engineer
Provide technical expertise in the product range both internally and externally
In this hands on role and in conjunction with other members of the Technical team, the Engineer will provide Professional Services to customers.
Pre and post sales support, Training, Installation and Consultancy.
Key Responsibilities will include but are not restricted to:
Product Installation, both onsite and remote implementations
Presales technical support, including qualification, scoping and architecting
Demonstration and presentation of products, including delivery by webinar
Delivery of Training Courses, both bespoke and formal
Product Evaluation of new products and revised editions
The ideal candidate will come from a reseller, distributor or vendor environment, with a security bias and be commercially aware. Must be ambitious, organised, self motivator and a logical problem solver.
Essential Skills and Experience
Must have strong customer facing skills and the ability to quickly adapt to the needs of the client.
5+ years of experience in installation, configuration and support roles with expertise in security features, content delivery, firewalls, switching and routing (architecture and implementation, from both the LAN and WAN aspects).
At least 2 years of hands on experience with Microsoft ISA 2004 and/or ISA 2006
Thorough understanding of networking and security technologies, and various authentication schemes (Active Directory, RADIUS, RSA Tokens, NTLM, etc…)
Practical and demonstrable knowledge of proxy deployments (reverse, specifically with Microsoft ISA)
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, cookies, authentication, web filtering, various load balancers sorts, virus scanning, web servers, SSL/encryption and reporting packages.
Understand transparent deployments using redirection devices.
Ability to understand traffic flow at packet level traces. (TCPDUMP, Wildfire Packet Analyzer, ISA monitoring logs, etc.)
Must be highly organised and possess excellent verbal/written communication, time management and presentation skills.
Ability to learn and think creatively to incorporate new integration solutions.
Self-starter with the ability to take initiative when potential new services opportunities arise.
Ability to travel for onsite customer engagements
At least a BA/BSc in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Actual work experience will weigh more than a degree
Desirable Skills and Experience: Have some exposure and experience with web development technologies (ASP, VBscript, JavaScript, and JAVA), as this will be used quite often.
Experience with hardware firewalls, such as Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, etc.
Experience with SSL VPNs
Microsoft MCP/MCSE certifications
Cisco certifications
Has worked in and understands the channel
