Minimum Requirements : URS Corporation has an opening for an engineer to join the Engineering Infrastucture team. The purpose of the role is to provide support to the civils & infrastructure engineering team in the design and assessment of various civil engineering projects with emphasis on drainage design and flood risk assessment.

To apply for this position you must have a First Degree and/or MSc in civil engineering or related discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate some experience of working within an engineering environment.

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the following skills :

. Surface water and foul water drainage experience.
. Demonstrate knowledge of SuDS.
. Able to present information in a coherent and logical manner. Able to effectively communicate with supervisor and team members regarding projects and project issues.
. Understand limitations and refers to supervisor as necessary. Aware of Client confidentiality issues. Tactful and considered in Client dealings.
. Able to prioritise actions and meet commitments on an on-going basis. Able to project personal work commitments to identify overload/under utilisation and to report these in advance to the Project Manager
. Able to write grammatically and be able to present thoughts and organise written material in a logical and concise manner. Aware of appropriate and inappropriate language and URS risk issues.
. Actively participate in meetings.
. Work with minimal supervision under the guidance of the Project Manager(s).
. Have an understanding of AutoCAD.
. Have a working knowledge of design and analysis software.
Job Description : The position will focus on providing support to the civils & infrastructure engineering team in the design and assessment of various civil engineering projects.

Main accountabilities would include the following :

Project Management
. Understand the project requirements.
. Co-ordination of design work and determination individual programmes of work.
. Determine resource requirements in advance and communicate these to the Project Manager/Senior Engineer.
. Participate in Contract and Design Reviews as required and complete actions assigned.
Financial Management
. Monitor time charged to projects to deliver within agreed costs and timeframe.
. Identify and report to the Project Manager any additional works or "out of scope" duties..
Technical
. Prepare detailed calculations, specifications and sketches suitable for the purpose.
. Verification of final output including checking of calculations.
Quality Management
. Assist in preparing Quality Plans and ensure conformance/compliance.
. Understand the Quality Management System and apply it to all project and proposal work.
. Understand roles and responsibilities in respect of quality system compliance
Risk Management
. Identify areas of potential risk and to discuss these with the URS Risk Manager.
Health & Safety Management
. Adhere to appropriate Project Health & Safety Plan(s).
. Understand legal responsibilities and potential company liabilities, as relevant to the technical area.
Business Development
. Understand in general terms the structure of URS and the company's services. Able to identify potential opportunities for other parts of the company and discuss these with seniors.

This role will be fully supported although the candidate will be required to work on their own initiative and liaise closely with both professional staff within the office and other professional consultants.
