Installation & Service Manager
Leicester base with European travel
£35-40K depending on experience
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of Automated Handling Systems. Following a significant increase in orders, they are looking to recruit an effective team leader for their implementation / installation team. The successful candidate will manage, coordinate and undertake projects from pre-installation build and test through to on-site installation.
- Manage and coordinate technical resourcing to support both new installations and after market support. Communicate and coordinate activities with all interacting departments and functions within the European business unit.
- Preparation and review of system design specifications, ensuring conformity and uniformity throughout the project development phases. Ensure that regular reviews and audits are conducted on all assigned projects.
- Responsible for the management, coaching, training, mentoring and development of the departmental engineers, including progress reviews and reporting.
- Develop and communicate a clear understanding of all individual roles and responsibilities within the department.
- Promote effective teamwork and continually strive to maintain moral at a high level.
- Generation of appropriate reports and monitoring tools.
- Continually review new techniques and technology and ensure that the design of systems takes advantage of all possible changes to improve efficiency and or performance
- Design, installation and commissioning of automated systems, including pre-installation works, testing and implementation of all software, mechanical, electrical and computing equipment aspects of the project.
- Commissioning of equipment on-site including the supervising of sub-contractors and other team members.
- On site customer training in the use of the system.
- Implement and manage departmental procedures and practices and ensure that they are incorporated to ensure client satisfaction
- Provide support for the After Market Department
- Arrange regular meetings to communicate with all interfacing departments to discuss issues, requirements and forecast.
- Continually review project activity to maximize efficiency and reduce cost
- Assist in the identification and implementation of operational cost savings
The main office is in the Midlands, although the successful candidate should expect to travel widely within Europe and occasionally to USA.
Applicants should hold a vocational qualification in Engineering and have relevant experience of working with automated systems. Applicants should have ‘hands on’ experience of installation and fault-finding of equipment systems in complex industrial or manufacturing environments. They should have proven management experience particularly in the allocation and planning of resources with a service or maintenance capacity. Experience of word processing, spreadsheets, Access / SQL Databases and AutoCAD is also desirable.
Languages: The ability to speak a foreign language would be highly advantageous.
Other essential requirements:
Working away from home for extended periods – this role is primarily a site-based but will involve commissioning work throughout Europe.
High level of numeracy and literacy.
Self starter with leadership qualities.
Strong communications and team-building skills.
Writing concise and coherent technical reports.
