SSE Hornsea, part of the Scottish and Southern Energy, owns and operates the largest onshore gas storage facility in UK, at Atwick in East Yorkshire. We are currently commissioning a second gas storage site nearby at Aldbrough. Both of these sites are at the forefront of the gas industry in the rapidly expanding gas storage sector. In order to continue to operate both these sites to high standards we require an experienced and enthusiastic Instrumentation Engineer to join our team.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be the leading specialist in Instrumentation and Control systems on the underground gas storage sites. You will be qualified to HNC level or equivalent in Process Control and Instrumentation, have initiative, commitment and be able to work well under pressure. You will have experience of instrument maintenance gained on process plant associated with the Oil, Gas or Petrochemical Industries and the ability to manage a small team of Instrument Technicians.

Experience of hazardous area instrumentation, the latest standards (DSEAR /ATEX), SIL assessments, and modern DCS/PLC based control and ESD systems. A working knowledge of computer based asset management systems e.g. Maximo is also desirable.

Participation in a stand by rota is also required.Candidates are required to live, or be willing to move within 25-mile radius or within a 45-minute drive to the site. A driving licence is essential as you will be required to travel between the Atwick and Aldbrough sites.
