Job Description Our rapidly expanding Insurance team is already the clear market leader in the UK and has ambitious growth plans with which to further distance ourselves from our competitors.We are offering the opportunity to autonomously manage your own tax team and a wide range of insurance clients where you will act as first point of contact with responsibility for delivering an extensive range of services.We provide services to all sectors of the insurance market, including the Lloyds of London market, commercial and private insurance providers, reinsurance carriers, life and health insurers, and brokers.Our clients include the biggest UK insurance names, the largest International and the specialist Bermudan companies. In addition to these major players, we act for a large number of medium sized businesses.Advising the insurance industry is often challenging. Complex from a tax, regulatory and accounting perspective, industry expertise is essential to understand our clients' transactions and business needs. It is the breadth and depth of this expertise, aligned with the high level of professional skills that you would expect from PwC which has established us as market leaders in the industry.


Requirements

  • UK Tax experience together with ATT / CTA, ACA, legal or equivalent qualification.
  • Insurance experience is essential, together with some exposure to life tax.



Responsibilities At PricewaterhouseCoopers, we have changed the way in which we conduct our tax services over the years and have established compliance centres around the country resulting in pure advisory focussed teams within London. Most of the areas you will be exposed to will be transactional, project based work such as:
  • Mergers & acquisitions.
  • International tax.
  • Group restructuring and refinancing.
  • CFC's.
  • Transfer pricing.
Examples of the type of work we do include advising on the specific tax rules relating to the insurance industry as well as the general tax issues of managing a UK or International group. Tax efficient financing and capital is particularly important in this industry and much of our work relates to this highly regulated area. We are also involved in assisting banks in developing investments that are efficient for insurers.Our portfolio managers ensure that you are exposed to a wide range of UK headquartered and international clients. As well as advising on insurance specific issues, both tax related and more broadly, you will also have the opportunity to develop the general tax advisory skills.
