Lead Laser Engineer: A well known Defence Sector Engineering organisation is currently looking for a Lead Laser Engineer at their site in Edinburgh to lead specialist laser engineering activities in support of development and production projects to ensure timely delivery of high quality military laser products
Lead Laser Engineer Key Responsibilities:
* Selection of appropriate technical solutions with detailed justifications.
* Model key laser processes using commercial and in-house tools. Maintain and verify the models.
* Problem solving to support product development and production
* Creation and review of detailed optical drawings, product and test specifications, subcontracts.
Leadership of engineering teams
Lead Laser Engineer Qualifications and Experience:
* Strong laboratory skills.
* Masters (MSc/MA) - Laser Physics
* PhD - Laser Physics
* Laser product development and/or applied research
* Ownership of a manufactured laser design
* Working in a laser production environment
* Advanced understanding of laser physics
* Broad understanding of solid state laser types
* Appreciation of mechanical design of lasers
The nature of the programs means that any candidates being considered for the position must be capable of achieving full SC security clearance and in addition will require access to caveated information such as UK Eyes Only and ITAR!!!
