These developers will contribute to the development of a suite of SQL Server databases responsible for order processing, billing and reporting. Work to high level designs to develop resilient, high performance database solutions that conform to the company's existing standards. Responsibilities will include:
- Diagnose and help with the correction of any technical problems
- Ownership of data/database products
- Responsibility for issues relating to enterprise scale databases, such as:
- Bottleneck issues
- Multi-server architecture
Main duties & Responsibilities
- Work from high level designs to develop resilient, high-performance database solutions that conform to the company's existing standards.
- Create release notes
- Create low level design documentation
- Create tests scripts for developed code
- Approval of test scripts and test plans for amendments
- Approval of deployment scripts/release notes
- Act as a lead developer for small and large development projects
- Mentoring less experienced developers
- Approval of low level designs for small or large developments
- Take responsibility and ownership of project based tasks focusing on the development stage, but also providing support where necessary throughout the product life cycle.
- Diagnose and help with the correction of any technical problems occurring with high profile business products and services.
- Responsible for the ownership of data/database products. The job holder will also be responsible for dealing with issues relating to enterprise deployments, such as performance enhancements, bottleneck issues and multi server architecture.
People Management:
- No people management
- Can be a Lead Developer on small or large projects Reports to the Database Development Team Leader
Essential Requirements
- A working knowledge of database theory, design and implementation Experience of programming with T-SQL
- Must be highly motivated, with a commitment to provide good and effective service to both internal and external clients. The jobholder will thrive under pressure. Desirable Requirements
- Experience in database development using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later including Integration Services, Analysis Services and Reporting Services
- A background in data warehousing would be of interest as would any previous experience of C#, VB.NET.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server replication.
- Prior experience of dealing with the standard issues related to enterprise scale products
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or similar subject
- Microsoft SQL Server Qualifications/training courses
