A leading Reinsurance Group seek a person with experience working in a life & disability underwriting department in an insurance company or reinsurance company environment to include underwriting substandard business on their own authority. Ideally you will have previous exposure to preparing and performing underwriting audits and a good working knowledge of life & disability underwriting practices.
You will have MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook or similar e-mail product and good working knowledge of Life & Disability Insurance industry regulations
Duties are1 - Underwriting of applications for life, critical illness and disability benefits including assessment of substandard risks or assessment of claims for the same products.
Discuss medically complex cases with the Chief Medical Officer where appropriate
2. Contribute expertise in the assessment of new business opportunities and quotations.
3. Participate in client audits including preparation, execution & reporting.
4. Contribute to the development & delivery of new underwriting and claims systems and management information systems.
5 Other ad hoc duties will include: Mentoring of more junior colleagues
Assist in the development of underwriting and risk management strategy.
Provide support to the department head on all risk management related issues.
Develop both technical and personal skills to a high level.
