JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Management Accountant
Location:Uckfield, however the post will be mobile covering our Leisure Centres in Sussex and Kent and to other locations as the job may require.
Responsible to:Head of Finance

Functional Relationships:
Internal - Managing Director, Business Development Director, Head Of Sales &Marketing, Head of HR, Head of Finance, Area Managers, ICT Manager, Finance & Admin Manager, Accounts staff.
External -Suppliers, customers, partners, auditors, banks and statutory authorities.
Job Summary:
1) Provision of accurate, timely management information in order to successfully achieve company objectives. Work with the Finance & Admin Manager and the finance team to produce monthly management accounts to agreed deadlines. This Is a hands on role where you will be required to get involved in general accounts input and production.
Limits on Authority:As defined by the Head of Finance.
Main Activities:
1)Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts, variance analysis, executive summaries, cashflow and revenue forecasts. Production of monthly profit & loss financial statements for 20 internal cost centres and consolidation to board reports.
2)Work with the Finance & Admin Manager to lead and motivate and train the finance team to achieve targets and deadlines.
3)Prepare and complete all month end journals, balance sheet inputs and reconciliations on a monthly basis, including accruals, prepayments, bank reconciliations and fixed assets to a standard suitable for external audit. compliance.
4)Prepare and complete quarterly vat return.
5)Assist the Head of Finance with future financial planning including budgeting, financial forecasts and information for new business opportunities.
6)In conjunction with the Finance & Administration Manager, maintain and review current procedures and processes within the team and business, introducing improvements and streamlining current ways of working.
7)Provide pro-active support and build relationships with non finance budget holders, ensuring key performance indicators and other financial information is regularly provided to assist with key business decisions.
8)Attend monthly operational accounts meetings and respond to individual questions regarding site and area accounts.
8)Any other duties commensurate with the level of the position as determined by the Head of Finance.
Special Conditions:
1)Occasionally, training and meetings will be organised outside normal working hours.The post holder will be expected to attend whenever practicably possible.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and Qualifications:
1)Qualified or part qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA
2)Advanced Excel skills and experience of using other MS Office products.
3)Knowledge of computerised accounting systems, ideally Access Accounts.
Work Experience:
1)Strong financial and management accounting experience working in a hands-on role in a high volume transaction environment
2)Staff management experience, capable of training and leading a team.
3)Retail background with multi-site experience
4)Experience of VAT
5)Experience of working within a fast moving commercial environment
Capabilities (Skills and Behaviours):
1)Practical understanding of financial processes and issues.
2)Ability in prioritising objectives and setting monitoring and achieving targets,
3)Able to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies.
4)Excellent verbal and written communication skills
