As a result of continued growth, Northern Foods are now looking to recruit a Management Account with an Operational bias.

Job Purpose:

  • To provide high quality, accurate financial information to drive and improve business performance within a fast moving chilled business environment.
  • Working within a highly motivated finance team to supply insightful, high quality financial information and analysis in a timely fashion, that facilitates effective business decision making and support to enable a sustained step change in business performance.
  • Analysis of factory variances, materials and labour to drive business performance in-conjunction with the operational teams of the business.
  • To produce gross margin information during the budget and forecast process. This should include liaising with Factory Managers, understanding underlying assumptions and providing explanations for unusual trends/ movements.
  • Generation and delivery of profit improvement plans that translate directly into improved P&L and KPI performance.
  • To prepare weekly P&L forecasts for submission to Category, monitoring the forecast against actual performance in order to improve the accuracy.
  • Site performance management that ensures performance commitments are met in an environment of “no surprises”.
  • To be an integral part of the finance team and to influence the direction of our business performance, ensuring that we lead the development of best practice and develop a pipeline of profit improvement that drives bottom line performance, in conjunction with other stakeholders in the business.

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong relationship builder and ability to develop trust.
  • Effective communication skills which result in integrated involvement with the various stakeholders of the business.
  • Effective influencing skills that enable financial expertise to be utilized
  • Comfortable in a high change environment.
  • Ability to identify, encourage and implement continuous improvement.
  • Able to make sound decisions that are pragmatic and timely based on solid information and research in a timely manner.
  • Tenacious in desire to implement effective and sustained improvement
  • Qualified CIMA /ACC finalist or nearly qualified
  • Previous experience within a chilled food manufacturing environment with good operational exposure.
  • Clearly demonstrate the ability to add value.
  • Excel Skills advance or intermediate.

Location:

The role will be based at our Solway Food’s site in Corby, employing 700 employees and producing Salads and Pasta Snacks for the UK’s leading supermarkets.
