Senior Process Development Engineer

Salary to £37k + benefits (£45k package), South Wales


PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Perform tasks necessary to engineer new processes for new product development, continuous improvement and support of ongoing production activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

" In conjunction with the project manager; develop, plan and implement the necessary activities to take new product concepts into full manufacturing. This will be achieved in the planned timescales, resources, quality and production requirements.

" The development process requires the conceptualisation, design, manufacturing and development of all of the necessary jigs, fixtures and process documents required for the design to be successfully manufactured. This process will utilise techniques such as Poke Yoke, PFMEA, design for manufacture, SPC, etc.

" Continuous production support is expected after launch into production and transfer to a low cost manufacturing facility. Some international travel will be expected in order to support the transfer process. Improvement activities will use structured techniques in order to achieve an effective improvement in a timely fashion.

" To operate to all of the requirements of GMP/GDP at all times to ensure that process validations, documentation and product quality meet the necessary standards.

" To maintain clear concise project notes including drawings, sketches, calculations, etc so that they meet the requirements of GDP and can be used as a record of the development process.

" Perform the necessary management duties to supervise a subordinate engineer/or technician. This will require the ability to delegate, motivate, coach, train and discipline where necessary.

" Promote a positive and progressive attitude in all work activities. Uphold the virtues of the company and act in the best interests of the organisation and your colleagues at all times.

EDUCATION

Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar. 5 years approx manufacturing experience in technically demanding light engineering / electro-mechanical industry. Good understanding of electronics and electronic production techniques is desirable.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
" Good communication skills.
" Knowledgeable in basic statistics.
" Experience in the use of 3D CAD would be beneficial but not essential.
" Experience of using process control tools and improvement techniques.
" Experience in generating Process FMEA's, control plans, manufacturing plans and assembly aids.
" Training and experience in Microsoft Project
" Team player.
