World class Defence Organisation based in Stevenage, Hertfordshire is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong Pro/Engineer skills.
Please Note: you must have current SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance.
The contract is initially for 6 months (ongoing after).
The rate on offer is negotiable.
Mechanical Design Engineer Typical Responsibilities:
1. Evaluate technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions.
2. Carry out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, including evaluation and selection of technical options, and prepare reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of engineering capability.
3. Prepare a full range of specifications, develop designs in line with specifications and all quality and technical standards, and carry out design appraisals in assigned areas to ensure all standards are maintained.
4. Carry out investigations into a full range of problems, issues or developments and develop and prepare solutions, individually or as a member of a project team.
5. Provide effective support to customers in assigned areas, delivering solutions to meet the customer’s needs and requirements plus the programme plan.
6. Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Must be well versed in the use of ProE
• Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, plus a number of years relevant experience
or
HND qualified (or equivalent) plus substantial practical experience in working from a basis of concepts and principles
• Experience across all aspects of a single engineering area/domain and an appreciation of other areas
• Able to work from first principles
• Good working experiences in more than one phase of the engineering life cycle, with sufficient experience of the total life cycle to ensure a good understanding of adjacent phases and through-life engineering issues
• Able to deal with multiple issues, tasks and priorities concurrently
• Substantial analytical and problem solving skills
• Full understanding of relevant engineering and quality standards
• Communicates verbally and in writing in a style appropriate to the audience; proven
presentation skills
• Aerospace/defence design experience preferred.
