Your Profile
Ideal candidates will have a science degree with proven experience of being an Editor for a medical communications agency or scientific journals. You must have had formal in-house Editorial training within a publishing company and be experienced in roles similar to Copy Editor or Production Editor previously. You will have a keen eye for detail, design and layout. With an excellent command of English backed up with very strong copy-editing and proofing skills. Experience and knowledge of therapy arenas is ideal as reviewing copy and dealing with client/author comments will be your responsibility, this experience will give candidates a distinct advantage. You will have excellent project/time management and organisational skills and be familiar with the print/production process.
The Role
To effectively assist in the production of high quality educational materials for pharmaceutical clients. You will be tasked with project management with all editorial responsibilities for a range of educational materials for the client base. Editing and proofing copy and manuscripts, draw up page plans for typesetting. You will be managing the progression of jobs from approved copy to print stage, ensuring that optimum communication is achieved through effective use of words and design. You will be liaising with clients, opinion leaders/speakers and internal staff to ensure full input and approval of copy. Liaise with freelance editors/manage their workloads to ensure deadlines are met. Delivering projects in accordance with budgeted hours and agreed specifications. Obtain copyright clearance for reproduction of published figures/illustrations as needed. Setting up editorial/production job bags as appropriate, ensuring all relevant information is included throughout project life-cycle.
