We have deployed some of the largest and most complex SQL Server solutions, a fact which has been acknowledged by Microsoft and their own consultants. For example, Microsoft asked us to run a project for them in the US to demonstrate the capability of Analysis Services in 64 bit SQL Server to scale to a 6 billion row fact table.Conchango was also the only non-US consultancy invited by Microsoft in Redmond to join its inaugural Business Intelligence Partner Advisory Council (PAC). We are now the longest serving PAC members. This means we have very early visibility of Microsoft’s direction in SQL Server and BI, and play an active role in influencing this, and have access to the most up to date releases. We are already engaged with a number of our clients working with SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft MDM alongside the remainder of Microsoft BI stack including PerformancePoint Server and MOSS.
Due to commercial demand, we are looking to grow our team of highly respected Microsoft Business Intelligence Architects. We require an experienced, passionate and professional Business Intelligence Architect with significant knowledge and experience of architecting and leading development of solutions based on Microsoft and associated 3rd parties technologies in order to help further drive forward our revenue and reputation. They will be EMC Consultings’s technical representative and authority with our clients. This will encompass analysing requirements, consulting on and architecting solutions, developing specifications, producing designs and technical team management through to delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primarily this role will provide expert architectural consultancy and leadership at a senior level. This will include the following responsibilities:
·Lead analysis, architecture, design and development of data warehouse and business intelligence solutions;
·Liaise with clients, team members, project managers and others within the client and EMC Consulting to deliver successful projects;
·Work independently or as part of a team;
·Assist in pre-sales activities working with the business development team;
·Assist in the estimating and planning of projects;
·Take an active role in communities (internal interest groups);
·Input into the EMC Consulting’s BI go to market and delivery strategies
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have commercial experience architecting and implementing data warehouses and business intelligence solutions on Microsoft technologies. The candidate is expected to have a working knowledge of Microsoft centric enterprise level infrastructure, middleware technologies, databases and application servers.
Required skills·Data modeling based on business requirements adhering to recognised industry standards;
·Sound data warehouse and business intelligence architecture and development using the Microsoft BI technologies including:
-SQL Server 2005/2008 RDBMS,
-Integration Services
-Analysis Services,
-Reporting Services;
-PerformancePoint Server
·Working knowledge of the T-SQL, MDX and VB(.Net) Script languages;
·Implementation experience of leading front-end business intelligence tools for Analysis Services eg. Proclarity/PerformancePoint or Panorama;
·Demonstrable development lifecycle understanding;
·Business analysis and requirement gathering skills;
·The optimisationof physical data models for a Microsoft implementation;
·Client facing and thinking strategically from client’s perspective to deploy correct solutions;
·Understanding of Microsoft Office SharePoint Services
·Good technical documentation skills.
Desirable Skills·Knowledge of non-Microsoft database platforms and ETL technologies e.g. Oracle, DataStage, Ab Initio or Informatica;
·Relevant Microsoft Certification;
·Experience or knowledge of Agile development methodologies;
·Knowledge of any of Business Objects, Oracle BIEE or MicroStrategy would be advantageous;
·Understanding of other Microsoft technologies including BizTalk, .NET Framework or Virtual Server;

Training
EMC Consulting provides formal training for its consultants within a career development programme. Formal training is provided on a highly customised basis and the best trainers and thought leaders are bought in from around the world to provide the best training possible in their discipline. Courses are tailored heavily around project needs and an individual’s career plan. All consultants are provided with relevant training, which may be course-based, online, book based or workshop based depending on an individual consultant’s preferred learning mode. This includes Microsoft Certification, Sun Certification, ISEB, ITIL & PRINCE2 certification and any other technology-specific training required.
Certain foundational training is required for all consultants. EMC Consulting has 4 internal courses which all consultants will attend at some point which include Consultancy Skills training course, Sales & Negotiations workshops, Agile training including Agile sessions hosted by Mike Cohn (one of the founders of Agile) leading to Scrum Master Certification for all senior consultants.
EMC Consulting invest heavily in the learning and development of all consultants and this is an area which has grown substantially each year and we were nominated by Oracle recently for our Learning & Development efforts.
