Multiskilled Mechanical Engineer - Hertfordshire

A vacancy has arisen for a Multiskilled Mechanical Team Member to join the Maintenance & Engineering Team in Hertfordshire. The purpose of the role is to help maintain and service all plant, services and equipment throughout the business.

We are looking for applicants with practical knowledge and experience of working within a maintenance and engineering team. Due to the multiskilled nature of this, the ideal candidate will also have electrical and instrumentation skills and experience.

The successful applicant will have good communication skills enabling them to regularly liaise with both the Maintenance and Production Team Leaders to agree priorities and ensure an efficient service is provided to the business. Demonstrating the ability to work as part of a team as well as being self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative is essential in this role.

Applicants should have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship and have a relevant engineering qualification, for example holding a C&G, B.Tech, ONC or equivalent experience and qualifications. Experience in the Chemical Process Industry, with a working knowledge relating to the mechanical aspects of chemical plant maintenance and small-scale installations would be a significant advantage to applicants for this role.

This is a shift working position covering 7 days per week, on a 12 hour pattern. The shift pattern currently works on a 5's and 4's rotating schedule.

Role Purpose:
To help maintain and service all plant , services and equipment throughout the site.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Minimum 2 years experience in chemical maintenance , or similar process industry.
Hold recognised mechanical qualification
C&G /B tech / ONC / HNC.

1. To provide a multi skilled maintenance service covering all mechanical work and electrical skills. Undertake additional training skills to keep abreast of technology changes, and changing needs of the business.
2. Maintain records showing time and use of multi skilled training, so that additional training can be given where appropriate.
3. Ensure that all facilities and equipment are used in accordance with current health and safety regulations, and that good housekeeping standards are maintained. In addition, work must conform to all quality, security, and other site systems.
4. To liaise with the engineering team leader and production, agree work priorities and carry out repairs as instructed.
5. Ensure that all relevant administration, time sheets and stores purchase requisitions are completed correctly on time.
6. Carry out PPM work as instructed and maintain documentation in accordance with departmental requirements.
7. Carry out statutory and other tests in the site boilerhouse, maintain the boilers and water treatment plant equipment as necessary.
8. When there is a requirement, vary normal working patterns in order to complete required work, cover colleagues absence or attending training courses.
