We have career opportunities for safety specialists with a good awareness of nuclear safety cases to join our growing team of nuclear safety consultants based at our Warrington office. The aim is to develop your current level of safety case skills through targeted training and continual professional development. You will be required to work on technical projects within a team of safety specialists, with engineering support from other disciplines.

Responsibilities
Nuclear Safety Consultants are responsible for providing safety case advice during the design, operation and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and for the production of all nuclear safety documentation as part of the Site Licence Conditions. Typical documentation may include:
  • Hazard/fault identification studies e.g. HAZOP, FMEA, etc.
  • Qualitative and Quantitative Hazard assessments.
  • Radiological hazard analysis.
  • Safety Case preparation (e.g. EC, PMP, PSR, PCSR, etc).
  • Support to Engineering Substantiation studies.
  • Liaison with operators, designers and clients.
  • Safety management studies.

The nature of the role may also require occasional work at client sites.



Requirements
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Have a degree in a science or engineering subject (physics, chemistry mechanical, chemical or process engineering)
  • Good awareness of nuclear safety case production and hazard analysis
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Some experience of liaising directly with stakeholders and clients
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Be in a position to attain an appropriate level of UK security clearance
