Based at our client’s site in Broughton, Chester, a centre of manufacturing excellence in the Aerospace industry, we are looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Health Advisor for up to 3 months.
Role
To work within an established nurse led Occupational Health team, reporting to non-clinical business manager, within a UK wide Environmental Health and Safety function. To provide timely accurate clinical advice on a range of fitness to work issues to individuals, management, human resources and the wider work force.
Duties
Observe the Code of Professional Conduct of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
Promote the principles of health and work related well-being, including the concept of self-help including the development and implementation of health and well-being promotion
Provide advice, support and guidance on Occupational Health matters to the entire site in a professional manner
To telephone triage absent employees and facilitate fitness to work assessments as appropriate in line with the sickness and absence attendance management policy & process.
To assist in analysing health surveillance results and provide recommendations for health improvements for specific business areas.
Production and maintenance of thorough confidential medical records on OPAS electronic system.
Undertake functional capacity assessments/ health-screening programmes and consult with the workforce and management on the suitability and fitness for work activities.
To make sound clinical judgements to assess individuals fitness to work and make onward referrals when appropriate
Demonstrate sound knowledge of relevant Health & Safety Legislation and Occupational Health best practice guidelines
Communicate with external health providers and voluntary agencies where appropriate
Provide emergency treatment services to employees in line with departmental policies.
Requirements
Registered General Nurse level 1
In possession of or working towards a relevant Occupational Health Nursing qualification - essential
Registered on part 3 of the NMC register as a Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health - desirable
NEBOSH Certificate - desirable
Minimum 3 years Occupational Health experience - essential
Experience in industry related environment - desirable
Approved Hand Arm Vibration Health Surveillance Assessor - desirable
Competency in clinical screening i.e Industrial Audiometry & Spirometry - desirable
Interpersonal Communication, IT skills and Motivational Skills - essential
