Operations Manager
Salary: £37,500 - £47,000 + benefits
The South Lanarkshire Council (SLC) Managed Service is a seven year service worth £31 million signed in 2003. The RM Managed Service team, based predominantly in Bellshill, fully manages the technical solutions implemented in all SLC education establishments such as primary schools, secondary schools, libraries and youth service facilities.This includes software, hardware, active infrastructure and Wide Area Network (WAN) services.
SLC have recently stated their intension to extend the existing contract for a further three years to September 2013.The contract extension revenue is expected to be in the region of £15m and while the shape of the extension has still to be agreed, it is expected to include a significant refresh programme as well as a move to CC4.
The role entails running the SLC Managed Service Operations team (~20 people), ensuring SLA targets are achieved, establishing and maintaining strong relationships at both Council and establishment level, complaint/escalation handling and facilitating change. The role requires a high degree of customer focus and communication skills. It also requires strong team building skills and a drive to constantly improve service delivery. The ability to successfully plan and organise workload is essential, as is the ability to cope with what can, at times, be a stressful environment.
Responsibilities:
- To manage and lead the operational team to deliver a service that meets or exceeds the contractual levels and customer expectations including development and modification over time.
- To liaise and influence all relevant areas within RM involved in delivering the contract to ensure a co-ordinated and appropriate level of service is provided to the customer.
- To take 'ownership' of the customer group and ensure that RM take all appropriate action to achieve both customer satisfaction and a profitable business.
- To work in the spirit of partnership at Senior Manager level with Client organisations.
- To assume ownership either directly or indirectly for ongoing service improvements within the service delivery team.
Requirements:
- A proven track record of operational management experience in a service environment
- Excellent senior customer handling and inter-personal skills
- Commercial awareness and acumen
- Working on own initiative with some management supervision
- Strong planning and organisation skills
- Broad understanding of ICT and educational services and their role in delivering success to the customer
- Outstanding influencing and communication skills.
