Reporting directly to the Head of Communications and Public Affairs the Communications Coordinator will have responsibility for raising the profile and awareness of our client within a wide range of external agencies and audiences and help improve internal communication. The successful candidate will take responsibility for drafting and issuing press releases and be the main media liaison as well as developing and maintaining dynamic communications and marketing tools for our client. The person will be an experienced PR or Marketing professional who has a solid background in dealing with the media. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and has extensive knowledge of IT and internet research skills.

Role
- Support the development of and lead the implementation of the Company’s communication and marketing strategy
- Assist local regions and centres to implement their communications and marketing strategy
- Take responsibility for media liaising, draft and issue press releases, coordinate other media activity at local, regional and national level
- Develop and maintain innovative, targeted communications and marketing tools, internet, intranet, social networking applications etc
- Develop, write and oversee print of all publications
- Provide event management and support at company events, ensuring effective use of developed budgets.
- Monitor outside events relating to our client, provide public affairs support in relationship building, support senior management with submissions to appropriate bodies.
- Provide analysis and reports on marketing and communication activity, maximise opportunities for communication reach
- Assist with induction and training of new staff, assist with and develop Quality Management System
- All activities must conform to Company and ISO9001 standards.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager
Person
Essential Criteria
- At least 3-5 years demonstrable experience in a PR/journalism or marketing role
- Strong news writing skills, and news sense with ability to identify PR and media opportunities
- Experience of producing newsletters, brochures and other publications.
- Solid experience with dealing with media
- Excellent writing skills and verbal communication skills
- Excellentorganisational and presentation skills
- A good knowledge of UK political processes
- Excellent IT and internet researchskills
Desirable Criteria
- Experience of designing marketing and communications strategies
- Good Media contacts
- Experience of updating websites and producing e-bulletins
- Good knowledge of social media marketing
- An understanding of the training andlearning sector/the voluntary sector
- Event management experience
- Driving licence and access to a car
