PURCHASING MANAGER
POOLE / BOURNEMOUTH
£34,000 - £38,000
Proactive Personnel are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of their client, a manufacturing company.
THE PURCHASING MANAGER
This management position holds responsibility for the development and management of the department and related supply base and to provide world class procurement and stock control in support of our client’s business requirements.
DUTIES
·Conducting research to ascertain market trends and needs
·Giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth
·Developing organisation's purchasing strategy
·Identifying potential suppliers
·Presenting ideas on new products and suppliers to senior staff
·Producing reports and statistics using computer-based programs
·Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors
·Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress
·Processing payments and invoices
·Forecasting likely levels of demand for services, products and/or component parts to be used in any manufacturing process
·Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives
·Checking cost, quality and levels of service
·Keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximize business efficiency
·Visiting distribution centres and suppliers
·Training and supervising the work of other members of staff.
THE SUCCESSFUL PURCHASING MANAGER
- The successful applicant should ideally be qualified to HNC in a Business Studies related subject
- Computer literate with MRP experience and have excellent written/oral communication skills.
- Ideally having membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply with several years experience in a senior position.
- An understanding of legal framework especially contract law
- Experience in the Automotive or Aerospace Industry is preferred by not essential
- An understanding of MRP Ordering System or related fully integrated system
- Possess effective negotiation, analytical, evaluation and presentation skills with a competence in the use of Microsoft Office
- A knowledge of 5s/Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing would be beneficial
- Proven track record in a demanding supply chain environment
- Be willing to travel as and when required
- Self motivated with planning, organizing and communication abilities that will provide for the delivery of a professional procurement service.
- Be able to interact at senior level within and outside the business.
In return for your skills and experience:
- Our Client are offering a generous remuneration package of £34,000 - £38,000 on days
