Overall purpose of post:
To be part of a team providing a front facing employment service, ensuring it is efficient and cost effective.
To provide advice and guidance to managers regarding Terms and conditions of employment,
Process efficiently and accurately salaries and temporary claims for car allowances and other expenses.
Specific tasks include:
ØEnsure that adequate Payroll Control and Validation processes are adhered to.
ØProcess time sheets ensuring that payments to staff are accurate and on time.
ØResolving issues with line managers as the initial point of contact.
ØProcess payroll documentation in accordance with procedures for the appointment of new employees, transfers, promotions, resignations etc.
ØComplete and process all necessary payroll documentation in relation to employee’s employment status and Conditions of Service in accordance with set procedures.
ØReceive, calculate and process all payroll variations to salaries including overtime, maternity, sickness etc.
ØEnsure the service provided meets customer expectations ands provides quality support.
ØEnsure that quality advice, information and interpretation of Conditions of Service, Council Policies and Employment Legislation is provided to customers.
ØCommunicate information to customers using effective methods of communication appropriate to specific service groups.
ØEnsure that the Trent Payroll System is updated, maintained and developed to provide accurate payments to the correct place in a timely and efficient manner.
ØEnsuring the service is delivered in line with relevant legislation, Council objectives and policies including Customer Care
ØTo undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time, that reasonably fall within the scope and grade of the post across the HR service
Qualifications
NVQ 2 in relevant subject or equivalent qualification
Knowledge
Awareness of Employment Legislation relating to Payroll.
An understanding of the operational issues facing the provision of a customer –facing Payroll service
Knowledge of IT Systems including Microsoft Outlook,Trent, Word & Excel
Competencies
Demonstrate competencies at Frontline Level as determined by the Competency Framework
Experience
Experience of providing support to a large multi-functional organisation.
Experience of processing Payrolls to strict deadlines.
Ability to prioritise work.
Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
