Php Web Developer – digital agency
My client, based in Manchester, requires an experienced PHP web developer to join there ever expanding team. You will be required to program scalable, content driven applications either from scratch or using an existing framework.
They are specifically looking for someone who can demonstrate an advanced practical knowledge of commercial programming - a commercially experienced individual that shows initiative.
About the role and the responsibilities:
•Working alongside designers and other PHP developers you will be required to create solid database and dynamic coded frameworks
that meet business requirements
·To program scalable, content driven web based PHP sites/apps either from scratch or using an existing framework
·Developing web services that best suit the company’s expanding needs
·Using initiative and programming bespoke modular applications that can later be incorporated into other group activities.
·Help maintain and update our existing client base of over 7000
·To develop a range of functions that will assist my client in providing a better service to the Internet community
·Develop facilities for easy site maintenance and future updates that will future proof the Internet and Intranet systems
·To be responsible for improving your performance by participating in the Performance Appraisal process with your manager
·To carry out such other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post
About you:
Essential:
•An up-to-date working knowledge of PHP 4 and PHP 5
•A practical understanding of Object Orientated concepts using PHP
•An understanding of databases, specifically MySQL, stored procedures, the design of the database logical and physical
formats
•Able to create stand alone applications
•Innovation of new projects
•Research & Analysis
•Full System Design
•Development
•Implementation & Testing
•Maintenance & End User Support
•Working to a visual specification and commercial objectives
•A practical understanding of Linux/Unix / Javascript / XML / Apache
•Able to demonstrate experience of creating Web form / MySQL applications suited specifically for the internet
•At least 3-5 years proven track record of practical web programming
•Experience in adapting to different programming environments and techniques
•Proven experience in creating intricately designed forms with good database interaction and validation
•Must be able to work as part of a team and show excellent communication skills
Desirable:
•Competent in programming with other languages and techniques specifically suited to a web 2.0 development environment;
Javascript, AJAX, XML
•Knowledge and experience in setting up and administering Windows/Unix/Linux
•Awareness of server and server-side code security
•Experience or training in developing Javascript applications
•Knowledge of AJAX and proof of how it can be applied within various web applications.
