Submarine Platform Safety Team Leader – Submarine Division
Our client isone of the UK's leading Technical Safety and Environmental Consultancies and due to an increased demand for their services in Safety Engineering and Management; they are looking for a Senior/Leading/Principal Consultant to manage and support their assignments in the UK and overseas and to provide for succession in the business.
Due to their increasingly successful business development and diversification, they can offer you the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging and high profile assignments, principally in the Defence, Maritime, Energy and Aerospace Sectors.
The Submarine Platform Safety Team Leader will identify, co-ordinate, supervise and conduct safety-related tasks being conducted by the Design Support Group for the MOD’s In Service Submarines Team.The successful completion of the tasks will underpin claims that the UK submarine flotilla platforms are materially safe to proceed to sea and conduct operations in support of UK defence needs.In particular, the tasks will include:
·Co-ordination and review of the Platform Teams’ input to Key Hazard Area submissions to Naval Authorities in accordance with JSP 430.
·Maintenance of the Platform System Safety Live Files (SSLFs) whose contents
underpin claims made in the Key Hazard Area submissions;
·Co-ordinating the Platform Teams’ inputs into submarine material state reports;
·Reviewing design change safety assessments.
The qualifications and experience requirements are as follows:
·Academic:-Degree qualified in a relevant Engineering-based discipline, OR HNC (or equivalent) qualified with relevant experience.
·Professional:- The candidate shall have completed the MOD’s Ship Safety Management Office (SSMO) course.Ideally, the candidate will be progressing towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (IEng/CEng) status and have completed the MOD’s Nuclear Introductory Course (NIC).
·Experience:- Solid experience of engineering design, operation and/or submarine support.Alternatively, the candidate may have experience gained in other complex engineering projects (eg offshore oil and gas), to include design, design change, project management and engineering operations.
