POWER SYSTEMS ENGINEERS
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT FOR DISTRIBUTION NETWORKS

Due to continued success, this division of a major power generation and energy company is now looking to recruit well qualified Engineers to test and deploy distribution power applications as part of the company`s Distribution Management System and Smart Grid solution.
In this role you will prepare technical analysis, designs, definition of data models, and design testing approaches for applications being developed. You will demonstrate the ability to support deployment of applications into customer utility environments supporting consulting on network definition and application tuning.
Your responsibilities will include the design for advanced distribution automation applications. You will develop and maintain software applications that combine advanced open-systems architecture, power system applications, and relational database technologies. You will apply solutions to unique customer environments and assist customers with troubleshooting problems related to the power system applications in a mission critical system.
Furthermore, you will respond to first level of requests for customers related to power system applications and support the development of cost estimates and technical proposals. Working in cooperation with marketing, sales, new product development and customer project teams, you will provide design, coding, and testing support for domestic and international customers. You will also write test procedures, perform factory acceptance testing with customers and support field deployment.
The successful candidate must possess a MS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on distribution power systems applications. Your knowledge must also include one or more of the following: phase unbalanced distribution, load modeling, distributed generation, voltage and var control, power system simulation, and optimal power flow. You will also need knowledge of software development skills with experience in Fortran, C++ or other programming languages.
Other skills required include problem analysis and troubleshooting skills as well as strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies with respect to power system distribution and awareness of software configuration management tools such as ClearCase/ ClearQuest is also necessary. In addition you will need experience in optimization techniques such as linear programming. Self-motivated with the ability to multitask, you will possess a strong customer focus and sense of urgency.
You must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United Kingdom. A willingness to travel both to the US and internationally is also a requirement of this position.
