They focus on high integrity sensing, control, communication and display systems with an emphasis on integrated Information Technology solutions. The company concentrates on obtaining a technological edge in niche markets, with many of its products and technologies being market leaders in their field. Their products and services are used on aircraft, ships, submarines, armoured vehicles, surveillance/communication systems, airports and transport systems around the world.

Job Role - The Principal Engineer will report directly to the Engineering Manager and join a dedicated project team that is challenged with the task of delivering robust and cost affective power systems and installations for the transit power section of the engineering department. The Principal Engineer will be responsible for a wide range of engineering activities covering all stages of a project from bid to delivery. The Principal Engineer will work closely with other team members and sub contractors and plan and carry out activities to develop technical solutions to meet the overall objectives the project.

Skills - Specification, design and integration of the following equipment to deliver an operational traction substation: AC switchboards, 33kV, 11kV, Rectifier and auxiliary transformers, DC switchboards, 1500Vdc, 750 Vdc, Modular housing, LV switchboards, Battery Chargers, UPS. This will include the detailed design for in-house manufactured equipment such as rectifiers, protection panels and other ancillary equipment.

Essential Skills - Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in electrical engineering. Previous experience of electrical design, ideally designing power systems or equipment, competency in computer based engineering tools, ability to apply best practice engineering and development techniques and capable of acting as a technical lead on engineering projects.
