Derby - Senior Engineer must be chartered, must be able to design, project manage and mentor staff, desirable experience tunnel design, railway, water.
Position Summary
Technical deliverables including calculations, design work for projects and general project management responsibilities
Key Duties: - Feasibility and options reports
- Design and analysis of structures, shafts, tunnels, bridges including the preparation of work for CAD or geotechnical design as appropriate
- Preparation of calculations, written reports and checking of contract drawings
- Site surveys and appraisals of various structures, earthworks and foundations as appropriate
- Checking of calculations done by other engineers
- Checking of drawings
- Supervision of Graduate Engineers doing calcs. Etc
- Liaison with clients, attending meetings on site, progress meetings, design review meetings
- Project management, including cost/commercial aspects of projects
Qualifications:
Essential
- Degree in Civil Engineering
Desirable
- MSc Civil Engineering
- Chartered or near chartered or equivalent with the ICE/IStructE or GeolSoc
Knowledge skills and Experience
Essential
- Be familiar with either UK standards or equivalent Euro Codes
- Sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designers requirements
- Sound understanding of the requirements regarding the risk assessment process
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Must have excellent communication skills in IT, verbal and written forms (in English)
- Must have at least 5 years post graduate experience working in a design environment.
