Minimum Requirements : The URS mechanical and electrical services division is a specialist division supplying professional expertise to internal and external clients for the conception, study, appraisal and design of all forms of M&E systems and infrastructure.
Our success and growth in various regional offices, together with a demand for M&E consulting services in the London area has enabled us to develop a dedicated M&E discipline from our London (Wimbledon) office. URS has formed strong relationships with many leading property developers and is working on some of the largest urban regeneration projects in the UK as well as more specialist low carbon and zero carbon developments. We are now recruiting a Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer to work alongside our Department Head in our Wimbledon office.
Suitable candidates must be able to demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and M&E consultancy experience. Candidates must also demonstrate the following :
. Must have a building services background, including hands-on design and technical review experience.
. Proven experience of having written survey reports and should have due diligence experience in property acquisition
. A Chartered M&E Engineer with membership of CIBSE or Institution of Mechanical (MIMechE) And hold a suitable degree qualification
. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate extensive post degree experience
. A self-starter comfortable taking the initiative and confident setting the agenda for self and others
. A team player capable of building a strong team work ethos within the office
. Strong commercial awareness of market opportunities and delivering high quality services
. Strong financial and project management skills
. A good communicator at all levels
. The candidate must be self motivated and have a proven track record of delivering high quality mechanical projects within a consultancy environment
. Capable of presenting clear and concise ideas and strategies.
. Driving licence
. Proactive approach to design ensuring the M&E team integrate into the design process with each projects design team Job Description : The core role & responsibilities of this individual will include :
. To provide consultancy services to a wide range of major clients at all stages of project planning and design
. To prepare reports, specifications and designs for mechanical building services for a wide variety of interesting projects
. To advise clients on alternative design solutions and options for meeting renewable energy targets
. To liaise closely with internal teams, particularly our Building Sustainability unit. Provide support to the URS Building Sustainability team in respect of energy strategies and renewable energy.
. To prepare proposals for clients and to effectively manage projects
. To assist the Technical Director in exploring new opportunities and marketing and developing the London based M&E discipline.
. Undertaking surveys and reports and M&E design checking and technical review function through interface with the M&E teams in Southampton, Glasgow, & Bedford offices
. Design and Project Management of M&E projects
. Providing guidance to and advice and share technical expertise with colleagues in the Engineering Group in London and other offices.
. Maintain a strong understanding of all relevant industry standards; Codes of Practice, Health & Safety legislation and current relevant design methods
