Principal Signalling Designers

Based in either South West or London

Salaries range from £45,000 to £58,500 + Excellent Benefits Package


My client is a market leader within the rail industry providing exceptional solutions within rail signaling. Due to their rapidly growing teams, they require signaling designers for either the South West region or the London area. To facilitate this, they require a Principals Signalling Engineer to join the existing team. In this role you will be responsible to the Discipline Lead in the office and will be integral in the design process, checking and verifying the work of designers. You will be instrumental in the growth of the team and the consultancy's presence in the respective areas.


The Role:

*Lead design teams and check their work
*Assist the Project Manager (where relevant) and Project Director to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget
*Oversee production of drawings, calculations and reports and other deliverables
*Assist the Discipline Lead in resource planning
*Promote and champion company systems and processes to assigned team members
Contribute to the bidding process
*Pro-actively research new design methods and technology
*Lead design or checking teams and the client through the design development process

The Requirement:

*You will hold relevant IRSE signalling licenses as you will be responsible for approving day-to-day work.
*Signalling design, verification and production experience in Control Tables, Signalling Scheme Plans, Aspect Sequence Charts, Outline Project, Interface and Design Specifications, Bonding & Location Plans, Site Surveys and Equipment Specifications.
*A working knowledge of Railway Signalling Standards and appropriate legal requirements is necessary.
*Checking and supervising the work of less experienced team members. Mentoring any signalling trainees.
*Completing work within a defined period to defined budget.
*Understand standard Signalling & Interlocking principles and be able to apply them.
*Have an appreciation of Site Installation, Testing and Maintenance requirements
*Understand the process of signalling design and ensure that quality assurance procedures are followed e.g. configuration control.
*Have good report writing skills.
