Job Description The role is within a multi-task project environment with responsibility for the design of offshore structures to support wind turbines and associated structures. Projects vary from concept design through to full design, including input to the installation and commissioning phases. The role will require liaison with clients, suppliers and contractors to resolve potential problems to ensure that completion dates are achieved. The successful candidate will be responsible for a project team in the delivery of a designed solution. Person Specification The candidate will be a chartered engineer with the ICE or IStructE.Previous experience will include the design of steelwork for offshore structures and preferably also concrete offshore structures. It is also desirable that the candidate has experience in the following: ·Design of steel piled foundations, substructure and secondary steelwork. ·Assessment of wind turbine and metocean loads. ·Understanding of offshore geotechnical design. ·Development of offshore structure installation methods. ·Provision of specifications for manufacture. The ideal candidate is likely to have been employed by a consulting practice or working within the design division of an offshore civils contractor.The candidate will be proficient in the design process and procedures for offshore structures and have working knowledge of the design requirements for Lloyds and DNV. Candidates are expected to be highly computer literate and proficient with the suite of Microsoft products and specialist finite element analysis software.A working knowledge of dynamic design methods and fatigue analysis would be required. Often the engineering will be outside the bounds of usual code based design, so a questioning and lateral thinking mind is required.Preference is for candidates with client side experience or project management responsibility where he/she has had responsibility for the management of external suppliers.
