In addition to all the standard tasks associated with a senior finance officer (Estimate preparation, budget monitoring, final a/cs, reconciliation, general ledger coding maintenance, journals etc) the emphasis of this position is to provide financial support/advice to the operational service area that administers Housing & Council Tax Benefits (£150m per year), Concessionary Fares, Debt Recovery systems including Council Tax, Business rates and sundry debtors. The postholder will play a key role in budget monitoring arrangements for these and preparing subsidy claims and other government returns. There will also be a requirement to provide written & verbal advice to senior managers and members including the preparation of draft responses to government consultation documents.
