Concept Mechanical Engineer
(Concept design of machinery, mechanisms and structures)
£30k - £45k dependent on experience
Due to winning a number of substantial orders with world renowned engineering companies, this established provider of special purpose machinery has experienced a rapidly increasing workload which has seen their current resources stretched beyond capacity. With new projects to be undertaken in the next few weeks, and with a shortage of skilled expertise within the business to complete these projects, there is an immediate requirement for a Mechanical Engineer on a permanent basis.
The role will involve:
1.Concept design of mechanical systems including machinery, materials handling equipment, lifting equipment and cutting machines.
2.Ability to take the design from initial concept, develop the design, justify using calculations, completing supporting documentation, prepare schemes, material and component selection.
3.Involved in the installation and commissioning process.
4.Will have to complete site surveys.
5.Load & Stress calculations.
6.Using Math CAD for hand calculations.
7.Making sure everything is highly regulated and follows strict procedures. I.e. codes for structures, vessels, etc.
The successful applicant must possess the following:
1.Have been a UK resident for a minimum of 5 years as you need to be eligible to obtain UK security clearance. Some of the equipment is for restricted sites.
2.Mechanical Engineering degree.
3.Chartered Engineer or ability to work towards this.
4.Strong experience in the concept design of complete machinery or at least part of the machine.
5.Able to use engineering science to solve complex mechanical problems.
6.Hand calculations.
7.Desire and ability to learn.
8.Hard working, diligent individual with excellent communication skills.
THIS IS NOT A 2D OR 3D CAD ROLE.
