A great opportunity to join a leading financial services organisation in West Sussex. Shoreham. The business has been established 15 years and offers a personal wealth management service to 1500 clients.

The Role
The purpose of this role is to set up and then & develop our legal services business to specialise in Private Client work for our clients. You will be providing comprehensive legal, technical and practical skills and advice to our existing and new clients.

Tax and Trust Work
To take instruction and draft a variety of trusts with minimum supervision including:
• Life Interest Trusts, Discretionary Trusts and Declarations of Trust.
• To fully understand tax treatment of different Trusts in light of the changes brought in by the Finance Act 2006 (effective from April 08)

Will Drafting
To provide an excellent working knowledge of:
• Will structure and specific clauses regarding revocation, appointing executors, trustees and guardians
• Wills with Life Interest Trusts
• Wills with Discretionary Trusts of Residue
• Nil rate band discretionary Trusts
• Wills for business clients: Understanding partnerships agreements/shareholder agreements, different ways businesses can be set up including tax implications (tax relief, in particular inheritance tax relief and capital gains)
• Wills for farming clients: Understanding inheritance tax relief, agricultural property reliefs
• Wills for clients with foreign assets or non domicile in the UK for tax purposes

The Job
• To achieve monthly and annual fee earning and other KPI targets as per the business plan
• To advise and manage client expectations in specialist subject
• Assist with and deliver seminars on specialist subject
• Ability to assist with marketing events
• To attend to clients both in person and on the telephone in a professional and efficient manner.

The Candidate
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to empathise with clients
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective time management and organisation skills and the initiative to work
Independently but also as part of a team
• Flexible and adaptable and positive attitude to work
• Able to identify priorities within a complex and heavy workload and sustain performance when under pressure
• Confident marketing ability
• Willingness and desire to expand knowledge, experience and skills and develop better technical ability
• At least 3-4 years PQE specialising in private Client Work and STEP qualified

In particular to provide an excellent working knowledge of:
• Intestacy Rules
• Deeds of Variation of Wills
• Personal Taxes including Inheritance, Capital Gains and Income Tax
• Papers required for the Grant
• Common form Grants
• Administering estates/estate accounts
• Inheritance (Provision for Family Dependants) Act claims awareness
• Good IT skills
• Proven marketing experience e.g. involvement in referrer/clients events/networking lunches
• Planning and Organising
• Interpersonal Skills
• Communication Skills
• Analytical Skills
