Role Summary/Purpose
As part of a core experienced team, the product specialist provides a key role in technical leadership of the existing product and in prototyping and introducing new product. Works with Product Managers to understand the market and product vision and delivers innovative working solutions for productization.

Essential Responsibilities
Understands stakeholder needs, and high level requirements, uses strong multi-platform development skills and acute product knowledge to design and implement working, sustainable solutions that further the product capability and drive business growth.Support for the commercial teams in solution definition, solution selling, and preparation for benchmarks.Responsible for sustainable development of key staff, mentoring and succession planning to ensure team growth can support the business.

• Provide technical leadership, technical direction and assure conformance to relevant standards in product direction. Define IT landscape product vision.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to key individuals in team, succession planning
• Support Product Managers in TG1-TG3 phases with technical input and solution validation
• Prototyping to provide proof of concept of proposed product solutions
• Provide the development team with subject matter expertise to validate design decisions
• Maintain an awareness of other product developments across the organization to ensure compatibility and interoperability
• Work with Product Manager(s) gathering business and technical requirements from both internal and external customers to define product content and help formulate product direction
• Assist the Development team in producing documentation, specifications, training materials and other supporting materials to enable full productization and release.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure that technical solutions will meet market requirements
• Interface with external organizations & supporting functions

Additional Functions:

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to wider team as required
• Support customer funded development that touches core product or requires highly technical design input
• Support for commercial/pre-sales organisation in solution definition and technical aspects of proposals and benchmarks
• Keep abreast of customers' IT environments and product configurations to provide input on appropriate development languages, environment and tools to be used. This could involve an element of technical research
• Provide support for creation and delivery of product demonstrations
• Undertake Customer visits to understand their ongoing business needs and future technical requirements

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering• At least 5 additional years of experience in software development and 5 further years in a senior role
