Product Development Manager
Ireland

Our client, a leader in the insurance sector are currently looking to recruit a Product Development Underwriter to work within their Product Development team and alongside their Commercial underwriting team.

Duties to include:

Development of new products, packages and schemes including the research, product specification, price structure, preparation of policy wordings, underwriting guides, training guides and administrative procedures.

Identify potential markets

Research potential markets by using own market intelligence along with outside resources to obtain information including, market potential, competition, rates and claims information, including claims history, potential, frequency and trends .

To prepare Premium and Loss Ratio forecasts.

To present potential markets to relevant Departments within the company.

Responsible for the preparation of Project Plan with regard to the implementation of the product, package and/or scheme right through to launch.

Develop Policy wording.

Agree Rating with Underwriting and assist with preparation of rating guides, where necessary.

Assist Training Department with Training Guide and Plan for roll-out.

To liaise and follow up other relevant departments with regard to the implementation of new products, schemes and endorsements, including Underwriting, IT, Fulfilment and Sales and Marketing.

To continue to monitor the progress of the product, scheme and/or package after implementation – making changes where necessary to ensure its success.

To handle referrals from Sales Team with regard to the product and package.

To maintain a knowledge of the commercial market including, cover offered by other insurers, rates and loss ratios – existing and potential.

To assist in the overall development of new and existing policy wordings.

Ad hoc tasks and projects as and when required.

Candidate Requirements:

Third level degree in relevant discipline i.e. Business and/or Insurance
Proven success history in the development and launch of products, packages and/or schemes.
Excellent knowledge of the Commercial Insurance Market
Experience in coordinating projects from inception through to implementation
Excellent presentation, planning & reporting skills
Ability to communicate clearly and interact with a wide range of people
Excellent Writing Skills with good attention to detail
Good working knowledge of MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Lotus Notes
 

Desirable Candidate Skills:

ACII Qualification
Knowledge of insurance IT systems (preferably HFI and or IFACES)
