The Production Manager will initially be responsible for managing three strategic projects for a key JPM Client within GPO:
  • The onboarding of new funds from an external provider
  • Implementation of new technology and operating model to deliver a same day pricing service across fixed income securities
  • Implementation of an enhanced pricing service, including additional price reporting and dedicated client specific team
  • The individual is required to understand and scope out the requirements of each project, identify required resources for each individual workstream, identify and manage appropriate work streams that can successfully deliver each project into the business. The individual is expected to have strong technical and operational knowledge in order to build, design and implement successfully into the business and will be expected to play a hands on role in the planning and implementation.
  • The role will require close working with the Operations Managers globally across GPO, the individual workstream leads, directly with the Client and with the wider JPM Project Team and effective communication will be a cornerstone of successful implementation. Specific tasks relating to the position are detailed below.
  • Upon completion of the full transition of the activity into the Operations Group (estimated end Q2 2010) the successful candidate will transfer into the Business and undertake a Operational Management role, responsible for the daily pricing Production for this key client, including management directly with the Client on all items pricing related.
  • Project Responsibilities:
  • Own and manage the individual project plans for each of the three key strategic pricing projects for the client
  • Lead the project and workstream resources to deliver against agreed milestones
  • Manage key stakeholders against their respective deliverables
  • Ensure the project is completed on time, within the approved budget, and within stated strategic business goals and objectives
  • Ensure risks and issues are effectively escalated and monitored
  • Engagement and direct communication with the wider project group and directly with the Client
  • Co-ordinate the completion of Business Requirement Document required for any technology build and work with the technology team for the design - ensure complete and accurate
  • Liaise with appropriate areas to define BAU requirements
  • Ensure milestones are clearly known, actions understood and assigned with potential risks identified prior to becoming issues. Escalate where necessary
  • Ensure 'To Be' document is complete & understood & feasible in BAU environment
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of the project through MOT into BAU
  • Description of Operational Responsibilities (post Q2 2010)
  • Manage daily production to ensure the timely delivery of validated asset prices
  • Constant review of existing process and procedures to identify the area of weakness and enhancements to increase the efficiency and controls
  • Interaction with Service groups, Clients, IT dept's, Business Support, Pricing Vendors, etc.
  • Participate in Client Service Review meetings from a pricing perspective.
  • Training and support to staff on all aspects of pricing
  • Raise and enhance the profile of the Pricing Hub
  • Support-alternate to Pricing Group Manager
  • Involvement in local and global projects as appropriate
  • Maintain and Contribute to pricing policy
  • Ability to cover extended hours as required.
  • Intraday asset pricing as well as close of business asset pricing
  • Monitor key tasks closely and ensure that they are performed on time. e.g. stale price report, monthly tasks
  • Ensure all risk factors and potential issues are managed and communicated/escalated to CPU Management
  • Review and sign-off of production at the end of each day
  • Ensure adequate staff allocation not to impact production across the extended day
  • In depth knowledge of financial instruments
  • In depth understanding of procedures and operational background
  • Good understanding of other related operations i.e. Fund administration, Custody, Financial Reporting, Performance Measurement, Shareholder service, etc
  • Knowledge of mutual funds and CIS
  • Familiarity with inherent risks and controls
  • Delegate and manage various projects
  • Maintenance and management of MIS
  • Close interaction with team leaders and peers through to Pricing Group Manager
  • ·Requirement to internally escalate issues promptly. e.g. delivery, quality, service, relationship, staff issues
  • Close interaction with Service groups and ensure the level of the service is maintained
  • Train/Coach/Development of staff - Identify training needs & appraise senior team members
  • Organize weekly meeting and ensure to address all events / issues within the group
  • Take the initiative for creative enhancements solution within the group
  • Participate in the recruitment process where appropriate

  • GPO is a centre of excellence providing an asset pricing service to JP Morgan Worldwide Security Services across the globe
  • There are 3 hubs based in Edinburgh, Dallas and Mumbai
  • GPO Edinburgh comprises of 96 team members covering the working day from 6am through to 6pm.
  • GPO Edinburgh services Fund Services operations across EMEA - Bournemouth, Luxembourg, Dublin, Edinburgh, London and Swindon
  • Predominantly Fixed Income and Equity Pricing - OTC pricing is performed by GDS Bournemouth
  • Includes Fund of Hedge Funds - exceeds 400 held by onshore and offshore clients

Qualifications:
  • A professional accounting/investment qualification would be a big advantage
  • In depth understanding of Asset Pricing processes and related technologies (WINS, Cosmic etc.)
  • In depth understanding of various Pricing Vendors e.g. Bloomberg, Reuters, FTID/IDC product,etc
  • Detailed knowledge of the operation of Financial Markets with specific emphasis on the characteristics of all investment instruments types, securities and assets from a Pricing perspective
  • Working knowledge of Fund Accounting and Custody operations and functions
  • Ability to work under pressure and in line with short delivery deadlines, while maintaining good relationships with staff, clients and other Business areas
  • Excellence shown in managing teams of variable size and activity
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills
  • Knowledge of MS Excel and Access is a strong requirement, but generally the incumbent must be PC literate with a very good understanding of the MS Windows environment
  • Lead by example - pitch in when necessary
  • The incumbent must be able to work to the standard set out in the local Standard Operating Procedures and J.P. Morgan Corporate Policies
