Production/Process Improvement Engineer
£12 -15 p/h, 3 Month Contract
Due to a successful 12 months where a high level of product sales have been achieved, this market leading manufacturer of engineering products has set themselves aggressive goals and plans for 2010. With the company hoping to increase production and dramatically improve their manufacturing facility, they have an immediate requirement for a production engineer.
The role will involve making production improvements to the manufacturing process. This will involve:
*Working over 9 manufacturing cells which involve bringing in the components, assembling, testing and packaging the finished product.
*Working as part of a team.
*Understanding the raw materials involved.
*Design improvements to the process - jig and tool design and test rig design.
*Layout drawings of the process to see where improvements can be made.
*Lean manufacturing (working to best practises) and problem solving.
*Menial tasks such as replenishing air driers.
The successful applicant will possess the following key skills and abilities:
*Experience with working on an assembly line with products manufactured by hand (automotive, aerospace, engines, generators, general manufacturing).
*A strong background in mechanical engineering.
*Experience with designing a manufacturing process.
Alternatively the role could suit someone with the following skills:
*Degree in mechanical engineering.
*Experience in an engineering environment.
*A dynamic and proactive individual with a desire and ability to learn production engineering.
The company will offer the successful applicant:
*An initial 3 month contract with opportunities for contract extensions or a permanent role.
