Programme Director

EADS Defence and Security, is looking to recruit a Programme Director, to plan and implement the strategic goals for a number of new and on-going projects, with the aim of developing; market-oriented products, future concepts and securing/expanding market shares. You will also be expected to ensure the delivery of clustered projects within a Line of Business (LoB) to time, cost and performance constraints.

As the successful candidate you will be required to report upon the revenue generating activities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly basis, clearly demonstrating expected versus actual revenue. A status report of the projects / programmes is required on a regular basis and communicated to senior managers and stakeholders.


Your principle areas of responsibility will be;

Strategy:
- Developing strategic plans for programmes/projects in coordination with the specific LoB Project Managers with the aim of actively working the market, setting up and expanding long-term customer relationships.

Planning:
- Drawing up plans for business development (new orders, turnover and programme results) and finalising the Functional plans for the programs/projects within the LoB with the aim of ensuring the best economic result possible and satisfying customer demands.
- Monitoring and ensuring full execution of the Functional plans, as well as, proposing and initiating corrective measures in the event of deviations between expected and actual results.

Budget:
- Drawing up R&D plans, the marketing/sales support and the investment budgets for the area of responsibility.
- Ensuring full execution of the R&D plans and compliance with the defined budget, as well as, proposing and initiating corrective measures in the event of deviations between expected and actual results.

Marketing/Sales Support:
- Supporting marketing/sales during the business promotion phase by predefining technical and program-related information.
- Naming and monitoring the bidding managers for the respective programs/projects with the aim of ensuring demands-oriented and proper drawing-up of bids by the bidding team.
- Heading contract negotiations with the aim of ensuring customer orders.

Subcontractors:
- Ensuring the implementation of, and compliance with, all contracts with internal and external service providers and other subcontractors, taking into account scheduling, cost and quality requirements, with the aim of guaranteeing proper processing of orders and management of programs/projects.
- Ensuring internal and external acceptance testing of products in cooperation with the relevant specialist capacities and ensuring the compilation of documentation in line with requirements.

Staff Management and Organisation:
- Directing, motivating and developing subordinates.
- Managing the development of staff in other organisational units.
- Taking decisions on specific personnel measures in cooperation with the Functional departments.


As the successful candidate, you should be able to demonstrate the following characteristics;

- Education to a degree or equivalent level in a relevant discipline;
- Formal qualification or significant proven experience in project/programme management or technical expertise;
- Membership of relevant Professional body;
- Technical experience within the communications industry would be an advantage;
- Knowledge of document and configuration management, use of project planning tools, risk management & financial administration
- Process manufacture and roll out experience would be an advantage.

You should also be able to;

- Lead by motivation and demonstrate the values and behaviors as required by the Business;
- Set objectives and review performance of all direct reports and their teams in line with the corporate policies, to ensure deliverables are met and value is achieved;
- Identify and ensure a continuous improvement culture is demonstrated and implemented;
- Develop and introduce a comprehensive information management system;
- Demonstrate a dynamic and flexible approach to strategic business needs, showing an understanding of multi disciplines in support of the many areas within the PMO and ensuring an holistic supportive approach to the Cluster projects/programmes;
- Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and excellent customer service skills;
- Show a strong aptitude for analysing data and compiling meaningful management/Business case reports, you should also have excellent presentation skills.
