Job Description :  A full-time project editor is required for a successful, creative and growing cookery list. You must have a strong editorial ability and writing skills, meticulous attention to detail and a flexible attitude are essential, as are a thorough knowledge of food and the ability to assess the quality of a recipe. Foreign languages are desirable.

Working under the editorial director and commissioning editor, you will be responsible for project editing several cookery titles per year, supported where necessary by an editorial assistant.

This is a full-time permanent position based in London, to start as soon as possible. The salary offered will be dependent on experience.

Key tasks

-Project managing food titles, including creating and maintaining schedules and budgets

-Sourcing and briefing freelancers including proofreaders, copy-editors, recipe testers, photographers, food stylists and Americanizers

-Checking and controlling editorial quality

-Co-ordinating schedules with internal departments, authors, designers, photographers and editorial freelancers

-Preparing for and attending regular schedule and design approval meetings

-Research and fact-checking

-Preparing and checking layouts and proofs

-Preparing and writing sales material

-Image processing and picture list management

-Providing occasional administrative support to commissioning editor and editorial director

-Occasional copy-editing and proofreading

-Occasional research and development of future projects
