Project Management Office (PMO) Manager
EADS Defence and Security, is looking to recruit a PMO Manager to play a pivotal role in the success of delivering a number of new and on-going project/programmes defined by contracted requirements.
As the PMO Manager you will be responsible for critical areas within the project / programme; being directly in charge of controlling the interfaces within internal and external PMO’s including sub-contractors. You will also be responsible for providing Project Support, in terms of; controlling, scheduling, planning, forecasting, etc. and overseeing Project Services; Quality Assurance, Issue Management, Risk & Opportunity Management, Change Management, Communications / Reporting, Configuration Management, Health & Safety Management.
As the PMO Manager you will be required to understand and deliver the contractual and operational requirements needed to support the project / programme in short, medium and long term, ensuring at all times that implemented strategies are conducive to shaping the future functional direction of the PMO in accordance with internal corporate standards, policies and processes.
Your principle areas of responsibility will be to;
- lead the definition and introduction of PMO processes at start-up and subsequent implementation to ensure their application effectively throughout each of the projects / programmes within a contract life;
- create, maintain and/or utilise current procedures to ensure the PMO delivers to time, cost and performance in line with contractual agreements and in-house management requirements;
- provide direction and exercise operational control of the supply of PMO support and services across the project / programme;
- develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all internal supporting functions, as well as sub-contractor project / programme support functions;
- align PMO processes with internal corporate, customer and external best practices;
- manage the timely production of all status reports including assessment of progress, analysis of problems / issues and identification of corrective actions;
- manage the conduct of Authority and project / programme level progress meetings including scheduling meetings, producing minutes and tracking follow-up of actions;
- act as main internal support manager to the Head of Programmes advising on all aspects of project / programme progress and delivery and carrying out delegated tasks;
- execute the Resource Capacity Plan for each project / programme;
- develop and maintain the Succession Plan for each project / programme;
- represent projects / programmes at internal and external governance meetings;
- provide direction in line with contractual requirements and corporate objectives, originating and implementing policies to reflect these requirements;
- responsible for identifying deliverables, key milestones and reporting regularly upon the status of programmes to senior manager level;
- introduce a project / programme methodology & monitor effectively throughout the project lifecycle;
- capture all processes and procedures, providing a clear concise end to end process of all functions and sub functions within projects / programmes;
- develop and introduce a comprehensive information management system;
- introduce a comprehensive resource backup programme for the PMO team;
- responsible for mentoring the PMO team providing leadership by motivation and demonstrating the values and behaviors as required by the Business;
- set objectives and review performance of all direct reports and their teams in line with the corporate policies to ensure deliverables are met and value is achieved;
- identify and ensure a continuous improvement culture is demonstrated and implemented;
- show a dynamic and flexible attitude to the strategic business needs, demonstrating multi discipline understanding to support the many areas within the PMO and ensuring an holistic supportive approach to projects / programmes.
Your skills
As the successful candidate, you will be educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant Business or Technical field, you will have a formal qualification / experience in project management, e.g. Prince 2, PMI, APM, ITIL or ISEB Project Support Office and should also be able to demonstrate the following characteristics;
- Technical experience within the defence/communications industry (advantageous);
- Experience in use of project planning tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, MSPe (Microsoft Project Embedded), some SAP knowledge would also be advantageous;
- Experienced in document and configuration management, risk management & financial administration;
- Good knowledge of process manufacture and roll out experience;
- Excellent presentation skills and experience of detailed report/Business Case writing;
- A team leader, with experience in objective setting and skills appraisal.
