Job Title - Project Manager
Location - Staffordshire
Rate/Salary - Up to £40k
Company Details - Our client is a major player in the defence and aerospace industry designing, manufacturing and supporting electronic and electromechanical systems, sub-systems and products for defence, security and aerospace applications worldwide. They focus on high integrity sensing, control, communication and display systems with an emphasis on integrated Information Technology solutions. The company concentrates on obtaining a technological edge in niche markets, with many of its products and technologies being market leaders in their field. Their products and services are used on aircraft, ships, submarines, armoured vehicles, surveillance/communication systems, airports and transport systems around the world.
Job Role - The Project Manager will co-ordinate project management activity across a number of UK navel programs and help in the leadership of bid activity. The Project Manager will support the Programme Manager by delivering key projects to timescale and cost in the Power Repeat Business area and will have direct responsibility for engineering department staff assigned to your project portfolio and lead and support contract and sub-contract negotiation. Routine UK and occasional overseas travel will be required.
Essential Skills - Educated to degree level ideally within an engineering discipline with a track record in successful delivery of complex projects/programmes. Experience of working within the defence industry ideally delivering MOD programmes and be technically competent in a range of Hardware, Software and Mechanical disciplines and being able to communicate technically with engineers. Must have the ability to identify, evaluate and develop plans to mitigate technical and programme risk and have a successful track record leading engineering teams. Relevant project management experience of bespoke systems from contract development through to customer acceptance and PC and keyboard literacy skills are essential.
Desirable Skills - Security Cleared. Experience of managing multi-disciplined projects with a focus on systems engineering and integration is highly desirable. A background in Naval underwater and/or above water systems would be a distinct advantage and knowledge of best practice project management technique would be an advantage.
