A challenging opportunity as Property Accountant of an established family-run real estate business in the heart of SW London (near Sloane Square).
The role of the Property Accountant is to provide support in respect of a number of financial areas - in particular service charge accounting. The person will work closely with other members of the finance team and within the business to ensure the provision of a professional, efficient service.
The main responsibilities of the role include:
• Responsibility for all aspects of service charge accounting including the day to day financial control of directly managed service charge properties; preparation of individual property service charge accounts for audit and annual service charge reconciliations
• Reconciliation of managing agent rental returns and direct liaison with managing agents in respect of ensuring the recovery of any expenditure incurred by the Estate on behalf of a third party including the insurance premiums of managed properties, private roadways expenditure and insurance claims
• Preparation of the year end statutory accounts for a number of subsidiary companies under UK GAAP and other year end procedures including liaison with external auditors
• Preparation and completion of quarterly and annual IPD returns in respect of the property portfolio
• Assisting the Financial Controller with the management accounts for its venue management subsidiary and the property group, the annual budget preparation as well as ad-hoc excel and other reports
• Day to day cash postings and other cashier duties
The successful candidate will be an experienced Management Accountant with knowledge of service charge accounts preparation and evidence of working in a commercial accounts department with a broader remit of tasks. Additionally you should possess:
• Strong PC skills including a good knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Word and Outlook) - and exposure to accounting packages and property management systems.
• The ability to work with little supervision and to tight deadlines in the preparation of service charge accounts
• Strong communications skills and the ability to represent the company externally
• Very methodical approach and a feeling for numbers
Our client, Cadogan Estates Limited, is the property investment company that runs the Cadogan family's Chelsea estate and includes some of London's most famous streets and squares - including Sloane Street, Sloane Square and Cadogan Square, as well as Duke of York Square, which was opened in 2003. It covers almost 90 acres, with some 15 acres of gardens, 1,000,000sq.ft. of retail space including 2 department stores, in excess of 500,000sq.ft. of offices, educational and medical accommodation, leisure facilities that include 12 hotels, a 900 seat concert hall, 700 seat cinema and 400 seat theatre, and a significant amount of residential accommodation. In 2008, the estate was valued at over £2.5 billion.
Salary: up to £45,000 plus 12% non-contributory pension, BUPA & other benefits
