Essential:
• Previous experience of claims negotiation.
• Technical knowledge of all aspects of insurance.
• Knowledge of Loss Adjusters and Solicitors market.
• Knowledge of the appropriate classes of business with reference to appropriate experts when the cover falls outside their own experience.
• An understanding of FSA regulations and guidelines as applied to the type of client being dealt with.
Essential:
• Minimum of 4 GCSE’s at Grade C or above, including English and Maths or equivalent.

Position In Organisation:
• Reports to Department Manager
• Supervises N/A
• Liaises with clients, insurers, loss adjusters and assessors/contractors regarding claim.
Overall Objective of Job:
To consider, evaluate and negotiate settlement of clients’ claims, ensuring a high level of customer service and client satisfaction is maintained.
Dimensions and Limits of Authority:
• No direct managerial responsibility.
• May be required to provide on-the-job assistance to more junior members of staff.
• Work on own initiative to validate, open, evaluate and settle claims.
• Work within delegated authority claims settling limits
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage all claims from first notification through to settlement, checking that cover applies and obtaining estimates for all claims that require them.
2. Gives instructions to suppliers to proceed with repairs or replacements.
3. Instruct Loss Adjusters on large claims as agreed under the Delegated Authority Scheme.
4. Consider, evaluate and action correspondence to negotiate and settle claims.
5. Act pro-actively in the handling of claims in chasing insurers/adjusters.
6. Deal with any other client issues that may arise in relation to claims/losses, referring to the appropriate person when the enquiry falls outside own knowledge and experience.
7. Identify complaints and gather information from the complainant explaining the complaints procedure to them verbally.
8. Review and maintain diaries and database based information daily, taking appropriate action.
9. Ensure company procedures are followed, in order to adhere with both quality standards and compliance regulation, in accordance with their authority.
In addition, the jobholder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their Line Manager, as required by the needs of the business.
