Proposals Development Engineer

My client is a global leader in the design and manufacture of a vast range of rotating equipment, mainly for the Powergen and oil and gas markets. They are currently seeking to appoint a Project Development Manager for their Steam Turbine Division.
They are currently looking for a proposals development engineer to undertake various demanding tasks involved with supporting the regional sales of the following product ranges:
- Centrifugal Compressors
- Reciprocating Compressors
- Steam Turbines
- Gas Turbines
- Expanders
- Axial Compressors
You will require the following skills and experience:
- Reviewing the client's Request for Quotation (RFQ)
- Performing equipment selections including drivers and auxiliary systems
- Reviewing the customer's technical specifications
- Preparing Buyout RFQs
- Reviewing and verify vendor quotations
- Coordinating the cost analysis and preparing pricing
- Establishing the payment milestones, ensuring alignment of sub-supplier payment terms
- Performing cash flow analysis on each opportunity being quoted
- Work with the regional coordination group, operation-based departments, shared services (e.g., finance, credit) and the field service organisation, as required, in order to identify and quantify risks, develop mitigating actions to those risks, prepare the technical/execution risk assessment form
- Request input from the project development manager or opportunity leader for the commercial risk assessment
- Coordinating proposal bills of materials & systems drawings
- Coordinate the project schedule
- Configure proposed solutions using the Corporate Product Configurator (CPC)
- Maintaining the siebel opportunity database - Technology Enabled Selling (TES).
- Assist the project development managers in developing technical and commercial strategies for the successful implementation of the order capture process on a project by project basis
- Participate in the development of quantified value propositions
- Ensure that the technical and commercial proposals in response to client enquiries meet the company standards for quality, completeness and timeliness
- Coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings and discussions
- Understand the client's applications and processes
- Understand the competition's products & offerings
- Prepare and submit in a timely manner the imminent order notification and the order entry packages to the manufacturing operation
- Participate in internal kick-off meetings and client kick-off meeting
- Support the proposal development manager with project or product presentations
With at least an HND or equivalent qualification within a relevant engineering discipline, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to work to demanding time scales. This is a role that requires travel to support project presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings.
Working as part of the dedicated sales team, you will be working closely with the project development manager and be instrumental in ensuring that the company's proposals are managed in the most effective way.
