We are looking for an Internal Audit Professional to join our East Anglia team. You will work as part of the East Public Sector Assurance team, currently comprising approximately 40 staff located across our Norwich and Cambridge offices.
Within our Internal Audit practice we are focused on helping our clients both at an executive and board level to ensure that they, particularly in light of the current economic climate:
- Have effective governance and control; and
- Have an Internal Audit function which remains relevant, cost effective and is above all properly risk focused.
Our service offering ranges from advice on developing Internal Audit Strategy and assistance in setting up functions; helping clients deliver their annual audit plan either by enabling them to fully outsource their function or by using us as a co-source partner to provide resources, specialist or otherwise, as and when required; to transforming existing functions to ensure that they are truly relevant, cost effective and risk focused. We work with a broad range of clients within the public sector including, local authorities, NHS bodies, central government agencies, education and housing.
Your role will involve the following:
- Working with a range of clients and delivering Internal Audit Assignments.
- To assist in the training and development of junior staff on the team in respect of audit techniques and service knowledge.
- To supervise, instruct and coach junior staff on routine programmed assignments and check that their work is carried out in accordance with relevant standards such as CIPFA, GIAS, NHS Standards and PwC methodology.
- Prepare draft reports and correspondence in connection with the work undertaken.
- Supporting senior members of the team in providing advisory services to Internal Audit clients ranging from strategy through to functional transformation.
- Internal Audit Effectiveness reviews.
- Building relationships both internally within the PwC network and externally with clients on ongoing engagements.
RequirementsWe are looking for someone who:
- Be a Chartered Accountant or holds a similar professional qualification (e.g. MIIA).
- Has strong internal audit experience within public sector or Risk Assurance Services.
- Has experience of managing internal audit teams.
- Can develop and manage relationships with clients/contacts.
- Shows strong report writing and presentation skills and can deliver work to deadlines and to a high standard.
- Knowledge and use of TeamMate would also be an advantage.
- Travel around East Anglia
