We are seeking a high calibre engineering leader to manage the Sound Processors and Connectivity R&D Department at our global headquarters in Sydney. You will have responsibility for the delivery of a program of integrated hearing solutions within time, budget, and that meet the needs of our customers and the commercial and strategic needs of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

·Program Management: Lead the delivery of a range of integrated hearing solution projects (both new products and sustaining engineering projects), on time, on budget and to according to requirements (customer and quality requirements)

·Process Management and Continuous Improvement: Provide change leadership for the implementation of continuous improvement of our product innovation processes to optimise project efficiency.

·Strategic Leadership & Planning: Contribute to Cochlear’s plans for market growth through working as a member of the R&D Management team and reporting to the Global SVP of Design & Development

·Talent Development and CapabilityBuilding: Grow a strong pipeline of Project Managers and technical project engineers with expertise to meet Cochlear’s future growth strategies; Determine the appropriate technical capability resourcing plan to allow us to build/buy the required capability for the future

Key Requirements

·Engineering degree (ideally Electrical engineering)

·Significant experience as a program manager of multiple projects

·Track record of delivery of financial forecasting, talent planning, resource allocation and capability building to achieve business goals

·Experience in influencing a diverse range of stakeholders

·Several years of experience as a manager of people managers & project managers

·Experience in managing outsourced design partners both locally and globally in a Research and Development environment

·Significant R&D experience in the following engineering technical disciplines - mechanical, electrical, materials, & software

·Very strong communicator (verbal and written)

·Expertise in R&D in either medical devices or adjacent fields eg Hearing Aids or consumer electricals (desirable)

·Experience of R&D in a regulated industry (desirable)
