Company Info: A diverse vacancy has arisen within a private organisation based in a beautiful part of London. This hospital is seeking a mammographer who is passionate about their work and committed to providing the highest standards of patient care. The ideal candidate should ideally have a postgraduate certificate in mammography or a strong desire to obtain a certificate in the future. General Radiography skills will also be required as this post is an even split between mammography and general work and could be the ideal opportunity for a professional hoping to build on their mammography experience and eventually specialise.
Responsibilities:
* To undertake mammography examinations of diagnostic quality.
* To perform general radiography when required.
* To provide the Consultant Radiologist or Registrar with x-ray guidance during breast interventional procedures.
* To prepare equipment required for interventional procedures and to dispose of equipment safely following the procedure.
* To apply dressings to the patient following interventional procedures.
* To be mindful of the needs and concerns of the women attending for breast examination, and explain to them all procedures where appropriate.
* To monitor the condition of the equipment in the Breast Unit, advising the Superintendent or of any defects in equipment or systems thus providing an early warning for any potential hazards
* To carry out daily technical quality checks and equipment fault finding as required
* To check the results of daily sensitometry tests.
* To keep appropriate records, entering clinical information onto the computer system as required
* To attend and take an active part in multidisciplinary meetings and departmental staff meetings so ensuring that the post holder maintains an up to date knowledge of clinical and non clinical matters
* To keep up to date on current practice by the process of continuing professional development
* To participate in department audit projects, research and development projects, and any issues pertaining to the implementation of the clinical governance programme
* To support and enhance the continual quality initiative programme ensuring a "quality first" approach to all aspects of work
Requirements:
* Degree/Diploma in Radiography or equivalent.
* Registration with the HPC UK
* At least 1 year postgraduate experience in Mammography.
* A postgraduate certificate in Mammography, while desirable, is not essential.
