The Role

Following expansion, they now seek to recruit an experienced Regulatory Affairs Manager, responsible for the development of effective regulatory strategies within their specialist chemicals and analytical reagents division. This is a new position that will be the regulatory lead for Global Chemicals in Europe. The successful candidate will be the key person in Global Chemicals business responsible for driving the compliance of the Global Chemicals business unit to meet all European regulatory requirements and regulations.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

  • To develop and manage programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with all applicable International, European, Federal and Local legislations for the Global Chemicals business unit in Europe.
  • Implementation of critical regulatory projects to ensure Global Chemicals is compliant, including areas of REACH, CLP/GHS/SDS content, and the implementation of the WERCs in GC in Europe.
  • Manage transport classification for new and existing products, in compliance with IATA/ICAO/IMDG, ADR DGR’s, keeping in mind area regulations such as US DOT’s 49 CFR. This includes monitoring of regulations and the communication to various Global Chemicals sites the changes.
  • Ensuring compliance with all EU trade regulations, import/export compliance, and compliance with excise, mineral oils and bonded warehousing.
  • Management and development of the Regulatory Affairs Department and personnel in a matrix managed organization, developing procedures, providing work instruction and managing performance/.
  • Knowledge of existing best practices is needed, while constantly seeking new/innovative work processes, systems, measurement and analysis tools from both internal and external sources to further improve performance.

Your Background

To be considered for this post, you must be able to demonstrate experience in dealing with legislation and regulations dealing with classification, labelling, handling and shipment of hazardous products, particularly REACH, CLP/GHS, and transport classification according to EU and international regulations, with knowledge of US transport regulations desirable). Experience in a leadership position within a global matrixed organization in chemicals is preferred, with history of successfully driving teams and processes for improved performance. You will ideally have a university degree in a chemical discipline and current knowledge of REACH and / or GLP/GHS.
