The Company
Surion Energy Limited is a battery materials research company, specialising in the research and development of low cost, high performance Lithium-ion materials.We currently have an opportunity for a Research Scientist to join our Research and Development team based at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire.
Main Purpose of Job
A Research Scientist is required to help develop second generation lithium ion battery technology. Duties will include synthesis of inorganic materials and characterisations using electrochemical techniques and structural characterisation techniques.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
·Perform research in the area of Li-ion battery materials.
·Complete characterisation studies of inorganic materials.
·Perform electrochemical studies.
·Formulation, mixing and coating of electrodes.
·Work closely with other members of the team.
·Contribute to research reports and publications as appropriate.
·Respond to any requirement to undertake new research activities as the programme develops.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
Honours degree, PhD or equivalent in an appropriate subject such as chemistry or materials.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, ideally gained in a scientific research environment.Experience of electrochemistry and solid state characterisation techniques would be an advantage.
