Research Team Leader - Communications, Architectures and Simulation
Responsible for managing the planning and execution of all communications Architectures and simulation research projects at Newport.
Including design, implementation and funding plan.
Also responsible for the management of the team members' personal development plan and careers within parameters and representing the departmental head in the UK.
Management of all aspects of research development within area of responsibility. Required to carry out all administrative and management procedure relevant to the role.
Collate research intelligence material for use in determining future strategy together with other Research Team Leaders.
Post with research management, advisory, travel and liaison roles.
Based in Newport, but must be willing to travel regularly to other sites.
Responsible for increasing team profile and establishment of team research plans.
Main Responsibilities
Responsible to Head of the department for:
The development of communications research projects, and such testing and customisation as required. Managing the execution of such projects within budget, and on time.
Liaising with the BU, and team researches in order to identify appropriate research requirements and corporate (BU) strategies.
Establish Contact with other teams working on similar projects within Europe, amd undertake a regular programme of visits as required to maintain contact.
Hosting of visitors to the team, and preparing appropriate briefs.
Developing internal training sessions as required
Complying with health and safety regulations within team area.
Managing individual personal development programmes.
Keeping in-date with developments in own specialist field, and liaising with Academics Partners, developing academic research projects.
Integrating research outcomes from sponsored research into the processes as designed and further research projects.
Providing advice to BU's as required.
The successful Candidate requires an extremely wide experience of communications research and to have worked in academia and industry.
Willing and able to manage projects as well as support research.
A wide knowledge of HE institutions and UK research procedures is required.
Knowledge of satellite Communications Architectures is essential.
The successful candidate will be required to be security cleared prior to appointment.
